Shirley is a hamlet in Brookhaven on the South Shore. Shirley contains many wildlife refuges that are arguably Shirley's most important natural asset. It is rare to find such pristine plant and animal life as well preserved and protected as it is in Shirley. Shirley shares a railroad station, the Shirley-Mastic Station, with Mastic as a compromise between the two communities.
